New opening: Palate

A new restaurant has opened in The Vandelay premises, namely Palate! Now the pink door gets new life and colour.

You may have wondered what would open in the premises with the pink door? Now Palate has opened, a restaurant inspired by both Italy and France in a beautiful union with Scandinavia. Palate, which means "gane" in English, symbolizes the passion for the food they will cook and the wine they will serve.

Behind the Palate concept is the married couple Helga Dis Asbergsdottir Flaaten and Kawai Kahlon. They have a common passion for good flavors in food and drinks. The journey started when their paths crossed while working together on the development of restaurant concepts. The story developed into an unconditional commitment to the world of gastronomy, and since then they have had a dream of starting something of their own.

When they came upon the former premises of The Vandelay, everything felt right. Here, an open grill is the center of the cooking and they can tempt you with dishes that highlight the natural flavors of the season's best ingredients. The main courses are prepared in generous portions and served on sharing platters, inspired by the way food is served in the countries around the Mediterranean. With over ten years in the wine business with one of Norway's best importers, the wine is also a central part of the concept.

Helga Dis Asbergsdottir Flaaten and Kawai Kahlon have refurbished large parts of the venue themselves and made a good number of changes. The iconic pink mushroom in the middle of the room has perhaps become even more iconic after the young artist Kasparas Brazovskis was able to express his version of Palate through a kind of mural. The pink door to the restaurant is also given new life and color.

Take the trip to Palate and join us on a taste journey you won't forget. They also have a great outdoor seating where you can enjoy delicious food, something good to drink and the spring sun!

You will find Palate in Dronning Eufemias Gate 23.
