Midsummer's eve

June 23
The brightest night of the year, we celebrate together at Sukkerbiten – with a bonfire, a sing-along and live music right by the fjord. Oslo Badstuforening lights up their giant, floating sculpture, and Minister of Culture Lubna Jaffery will light the fire. Free and open to all!

Welcome to a free Midsummer’s Eve celebration at Sukkerbiten in Bjørvika! Following tradition, Oslo Badstuforening will set alight a giant, floating sculpture. This year, the bonfire is shaped like an enormous bird.

The Badstu Choir and Sondre Mæland will perform, and saxophonist Dario Fariello will play from 7:30 PM. After a community sing-along, Minister of Culture Lubna Jaffery will light the bonfire. Lyrics for the sing-along can be found here.

The event is free and open to all – no ticket required. Tip: arrive early to get a good spot at Sukkerbiten!

Midsummer at the Sauna Pier

In addition to the free bonfire celebration, Oslo Badstuforening invites you to an evening of live music, pirtis rituals (a steam bath ceremony with birch branches), swimming and sauna from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. This event requires a ticket.

You can choose between the following options:

  1. Two-hour communal sauna at 7:00 PM or 9:00 PM – includes the concert from 9:00–9:45 PM
  2. Concert only, 9:00–9:45 PM (without sauna)
  3. Pirtis ritual with Villiro: 8:30 PM (75 min) or 10:00 PM (45 min)

We look forward to celebrating the brightest night of the year with you!
