The Vandelay is open

Behind the pink door in Bispevika is The Vandelay — a neighborhood brasserie and new Oslo hot spot.

The Vandelay is serving up food cooked with love and care in a cool and relaxed space. A restaurant the owners themselves want to visit with family and friends. You can stop by for breakfast from 07:30 in the morning, for brunch on the weekends and for dinner at any time.

OPEN ALL DAY, EVERY DAY

On the opening day, none other than the boss himself were serving the guests — Esben Holmboe Bang, often referred to as one of Norway's, if not the world's, best chefs after his success with Maaemo. His new place The Vandelay will be something else, it's not the new Maaemo.

– We will use the same suppliers, fantastic ingredients, and all the know-how from Maaemo to make fantastic and tasty food, but serve it in a much simpler way, at a lower price, said an enthusiastic Esben Holmboe Bang to Dagbladet earlier this year.

The Vandelay will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on weekends. Inspired by trips to other vibrant cities around the world, they wanted to create a place in Oslo that will always be open — a place full of life, people and great food.

A NEW OSLO FAVORITE FROM DAY ONE

Already a few hours into the opening day, the first review came out. A clear top score and the title "Oslo's best lunch". And so it began. Instagram is now filled with photos of the pink door, an already legendary burger and pancakes and ricotta toast from the breakfast menu.

The praise in the media just continues: "Informal perfectionism" is stated in Finansavisen's Lunch Guide, and Urbania Magasin concludes its review with "The Vandelay is exactly the relaxed, perfect hangout spot Oslo needed".

It is clear that both the food and the atmosphere speak for themselves at The Vandelay. There is not much to say but book a table — this place is almost fully booked already.

See you behind the pink door!
