Are you going to spend your winter holiday in Oslo? There is plenty to do for both young and old. Here we guide you to what is happening in the area.
At MUNCH you can experience the breadth of Edvard Munch's artistry, contemporary art and world-class international exhibitions. During the winter holiday, a winter holiday workshop is arranged that you can bring your children to. For children between 3-8 years old accompanied by an adult, they have “Turn the world upside down”. Here, children can explore the universe of Georg Baselitz through a break-up performance and a creative painting workshop. For young people, “From old to unique clothing design” is arranged with Chris Lee. An inspiring clothing design session with a focus on redesign.
Deichman Bjørvika offers six floors of literature, reading and study spaces, stages, a cinema and workshops for young and old. During the winter holiday, various activities and events are arranged. Bring the kids for a holiday movie, game club, reading aloud or just to explore the large, exciting library and all the books you can find there.
Combine activities in the area with a lunch or dinner out. There is a wide selection of good restaurants in the area both along the pier in Bispevika, at Munch pier and out on Sørenga. There is something for everyone here with dishes from Italian, French, Asian and Mexican cuisine, and much more! A family favorite is Villa Paradiso, which is located right above MUNCH. Or head to Barcode Street Food where everyone in the family can choose from the many different food stalls.

In the middle of the bay you will find the station common playground. This is a modern playground where children can climb and slide. Explore the area and take a walk on the playground before warming up inside with a hot chocolate and fresh baked goods. The playground is located on the station common between Godt Brød and Talormade, both of which serve hot chocolate and baked goods.
Take a trip to Culture Street and visit the galleries. Here you will find Kösk which shows exhibitions of some of the best in Norwegian contemporary art. QSPA Gallery which is the foundation of H.M. Queen Sonja's artist scholarship and aims to create interest in, and stimulate the development of graphic art. At QSPA you will find fantastic art prints by artists from all over the world, as well as some of H.M. Queen Sonja's own artwork. VI, VII which is a gallery that specializes in international contemporary art. Outside Culture Street, but not far away (Rostockgata 2-4) you will find Kunsthall Oslo which is a non-commercial gallery for art. Here Norwegian and international contemporary art is shown with a main emphasis on new productions.
In the shopping street Operagata you will find many lovely shops and not least Norwegian design in abundance. Here you will find Norwegian design at Lillelam, Envelope 1976, Holzweiler and Norwegian Rain & T-Michael. There are also several multi-brand stores such as Oxholm, Aspeli and Dapper. At the end of Operagata is Bjørvika Blomster with the season's finest flowers and other nice things for the home. Norli also recently opened above Bjørvika Blomster, where you can find books and games suitable for the whole family.
